Paint protection film is designed to absorb impact and prevent most rock chips, road debris damage, light scuffs, and swirl marks. It’s not armor — extreme impacts can still damage paint, and poor washing habits can still scratch exposed areas. The goal is to dramatically reduce wear and keep your paint looking new longer.
FAQs
Answers to the questions customers ask us most.
From film options and legal tint to ceramic coating durability and wrap care — here’s what you should know before booking.
Full front typically covers the highest impact areas: front bumper, full hood, full fenders, mirrors, and sometimes headlights. Full body covers nearly all painted surfaces for maximum chip protection and a uniform finish. If you drive highway miles, track, or want true “set it and forget it,” full body is the top option.
On a quality install, edges are minimized and tucked where possible. You may still find small seams on complex panels (it’s normal), but the finish should look clean and intentional. We prioritize edge quality, alignment, and consistency so it doesn’t distract from the vehicle.
Most front-end packages can take 1–2 days depending on the vehicle and complexity. Full body coverage typically takes multiple days because we focus on prep, alignment, and finishing details. We’ll give you an exact timeline when we quote your vehicle.
XPEL PPF includes manufacturer warranty coverage for defects like cracking, yellowing, bubbling, or delamination (coverage depends on film and terms). Warranty does not cover external damage like rock impacts or accidents. We’ll walk you through what’s covered and keep documentation on file.
CS Black is a high-quality dyed film for a clean look and glare reduction. XR Black adds nano-ceramic technology for stronger heat rejection. XR Plus is the top-tier option built for maximum infrared heat rejection and comfort, especially in summer or for vehicles that sit in the sun.
It depends on your goals and your comfort driving at night. Lighter shades keep visibility high while still reducing heat and UV. Darker shades increase privacy and reduce glare, but can be harder to see through at night. We can recommend legal and practical options based on your vehicle and your driving habits.
Typically 2–4 days is safe, but cure time depends on temperature and humidity. If it’s cold or rainy, it can take longer. We’ll give you clear aftercare instructions the day of your install so you don’t risk shifting the film.
A clear or very light windshield film can significantly reduce heat and UV without making it “dark.” The goal is comfort and protection while keeping visibility crisp at night. If you want a tinted look, we’ll talk through options and visibility expectations before you commit.
Quality film installed correctly should not interfere with typical sensors. Rear defrosters are generally safe, but removal of old tint needs extra care to protect defroster lines. If your vehicle has special glass or integrated tech, we’ll account for it during the install.
Ceramic coating adds a durable, slick layer that helps resist water spotting, chemical contamination, and light staining while making washing easier. It also improves gloss and depth on paint and adds a strong “beading” effect. It’s not a scratch-proof layer, but it helps reduce wear from daily use.
Both is ideal. PPF protects against chips and impact, and ceramic makes the surface easier to clean and maintain. Coating on top of PPF helps keep it looking cleaner and can reduce staining and water spotting over time.
Longevity depends on the product level and how the vehicle is maintained. Short-term coatings can be around a year, while higher tier systems can be multiple years with proper washing and care. We’ll recommend the right option based on how you drive, park, and wash your car.
Use a pH-neutral soap, clean wash media, and avoid harsh brushes. Touchless washes are safer than brush tunnels, but the best results come from a proper two-bucket wash or a quality hand wash. We’ll give you a simple maintenance plan that keeps your coating performing.
Yes. Wheel and caliper coatings help repel brake dust and grime. Glass coatings improve water behavior and visibility in rain. Trim coatings help reduce fading, and interior coatings can help prevent staining on leather, vinyl, and fabric.
Vinyl is primarily for color change and style. PPF is for protection against chips and impacts. Vinyl can still get scratched or rock-chipped more easily than PPF. If you want a color change with protection, we can discuss colored PPF options depending on your goals.
Wrap lifespan depends on the film brand, finish, and how the car is stored and washed. Garage-kept cars generally see longer life. Regular safe washing and avoiding harsh chemicals helps keep edges and finish looking clean.
On healthy OEM paint, removal is typically safe when done correctly. The biggest risk is vehicles with poor resprays, weak clear coat, or existing damage. We can inspect the paint and set expectations before wrapping.
Yes — partial wraps are popular for contrast roofs, mirror caps, chrome delete, and accent pieces. This is a great option if you say “I want a different look” without committing to a full color change.
Hand washing is best. Avoid abrasive brushes and harsh solvents. Use gentle soap and avoid high-pressure blasting directly into edges. Matte and satin finishes need extra care — we’ll tell you what products to use and what to avoid.
The fastest way is to message or email your vehicle year/make/model and what coverage you want. Photos help for complex installs or custom work. We’ll confirm film options, timelines, and aftercare so you know exactly what you’re getting.
As a general rule, avoid washing for about a week after PPF or wraps to allow edges to fully settle. Ceramic coatings often need a short initial cure period before water exposure depending on the product. We’ll give you the correct timeline for your specific service.
Yes — and it’s usually the best plan because we can sequence everything correctly. PPF typically comes before ceramic (so the coating goes on top), and tint can be scheduled around that depending on timing. We’ll recommend the cleanest order for your build.
